Cancun

So we went to Cancun and we made it back. We are sad to be back and we wish we could have stayed there longer. The only major thing that went wrong is I got sun poisoning from staying in the sun too long. My legs are swollen and on fire and feel like there is a ton of pin pricks in my legs all the way to the bone. It should go away soon but it is very painful to walk. The trip was beautiful and it was everything we expected. No rain, no big storms, great weather, and great sun. We got there on Saturday and we set up our room. For those of you who know Sam, and have traveled with him, you know right when he gets to a hotel room he HAS to unpack before he can do anything. So here is Sam unpacking and our room (YES with 2 double beds haha) and our view from the balcony with the pool out there and of course the beach!

Then on Sunday we went deep into the town of Cancun and went to church. Sam said that I shouldn't take my camera to church so we have no pictures of the church. We did go to a mall next to our hotel. It's called the Kukulcan Mall and it's the Luxery mall, as you can see in the picture.

Then on Monday we went to the flea market and just hung around (that was on St. Patricks Day)This is Sam doing the bartaring for a blanket, but this guy actually hooked us up on some deals with some tours. And a couple other pictures...

Then we went back to the mall and hung around our hotel eating at a bar and grill and played some pool.

Tuesday we went to listen to a hotel deal to sign up for a timeshare. We actually really liked it but it was just so expensive. Anyway here are some pictures of the hotel tour.

Wednesday we went to Chichen-Itza (It's one of the Mayan ruins in Cancun. It's about a 2 1/2 hour drive from our hotel.) These are some pictures we took on the way to Chichen-Itza. We stopped at a natural well, a big sink hole, and Sammy jumped in. It was freezing so I just stayed up top and took pictures. The black barrel on the roofs is what I did one time on an expedition with my family. Not in Cancun but at another place in Mexico. So it was neat to see those there too!!

Thursday we went to a place called X-Caret. (You say it like SHHCARET) It's like a zoo, sea world, scuba diving and snorkeling all in one place. We ran out of camera room so we had to buy some waterproof disposable cameras. We'll take them to Wal-Mart and get them developed. We have some great underwater shots. I will start with these pictures for now and pick up when we get the cameras developed.

I think I have to tell the Geena story here so here goes - The day before Sam's wedding, Doug came by & told us they were flying to Salt Lake for your wedding so we asked him to deliver our wedding gift. I asked Doug for Sam's wife's name & he said Geena (he spelled it out - with a double E). I asked him if he was sure & he said Linda had just written it herself so I wrote "To Sam & Geena".

Hey Geena!!! We sure LOVED meeting you. You are so COOL (cooler than Sam!!!! ... except Sam is a BETTER COOK!!!). We are so happy you are part of the family!!

Love, Ellen (& Kevin & Max & Cooper)

Sounds and looked like a blast! Other then the sun poisoning. Yuck! I had the same thing happen on a trip we took to Hawaii. I just remember never wanting to stand up and walk around. It makes for some interesting touring. I'm sooo sorry.

By the way happy late birthday to you and Sam tomorrow. Our little Karly's B-day is Friday. So Sam and her are just a day apart, okay a day and a few years apart. Very fun. Hope you get to do something fun!
