A Tragedy

When I was younger I had the most amazing Young Women's president. She was so easy to talk to, and so much fun. She moved away right after I got out of young womens, and turned 18. She moved to Alpine. It was sad when she left. I have since seen her and her family a few times. For my wedding, for my neighbor's wedding, when my friend Amy came home from her mission, and lastly, when my dear friend Heather passed. We sat next to eachother. Then I get the news.....
From the Deseret News website

LINDON — A rear-end crash on I-15 turned deadly Friday night in Lindon.
A car slammed into the back of a semitrailer while heading south at about 8:30 p.m.

The car's passenger, Lindsey Sandstrom, 16, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The car's driver was flown to University Hospital with critical injuries, said Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Steve Winward.

According to the police report, prior to the accident the vehicle had suffered mechanical problems that caused the car to swerve into the adjacent lane, where it collided with the semi.

From the KSL Website
Fatal accident shuts down southbound I-15 near Lindon
October 24th, 2008 @ 11:15pm
(KSL News) All southbound lanes of I-15 near Lindon were shut down for a few hours tonight as police investigated the scene of a fatal accident.

The accident happened around 8:00 this evening. Police say a Honda Civic was headed southbound when it slammed into the rear of semi truck.

The passenger of the car died at the scene. The driver was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition.

Police do not yet know a cause for the accident.

This is all a shock and a terrible tragedy to happen. What ended up happening is, Lindsay's sister Kaylee was driving, and all the sudden the car started shaking, and flew into the next lane, which had a semi in it. And the semi ran over the passenger side of the car, (which Lindsay was sitting in) and killed her on impact. The eye witness that saw the accident stopped, and her and her husband ran back to the car, and held Kaylee's hand till the Paramedic's came. They had no clue that Lindsey was in the car as well. Because the wheel was on Kaylee's arm, they couldn't see into the other side of the car. Meanwhile, Their father was returning from a motorcycle trip down to Moab, and their mother went to go pick him up at a friends house. (the mother was my dear Young Women's president, and great friend, Tami Sandstrom) She was at home waiting and waiting for the girls to arrive home. They never came, so she decided to leave and go to get her husband Mike. She went to get on the freeway which was closed due to the accident. So she went around, by the time they got back, there was a sheriff and their bishop waiting for them at their home to tell them the news. It was so sad, and very tragic.
Kaylee, the driver, was in critical condition but has since come home. The first words out of her mouth were, I just killed my sister. What a sad thing to think of. It was not her fault, but she totally takes blame. Needless to say, I have a funeral to go to on thursday, and see my dear friend again. I feel so horrible for their family, I pray and hope that Kaylee and the family will be okay, and make it through this tough time in their lives. I love you guys...

Lindsay Dawn Sandstrom

Lindsay Dawn Sandstrom 1992 ~ 2008 Our sweet Lindsay returned into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father and awaiting family members last Friday night as a result of a terrible car accident. Lindsay started her mortal journey on April 18, 1992 in Salt Lake City, joining her parents Mike and Tammy Sandstrom and her sister Kaylee (who she literally and figuratively has always looked up to). She lived in Holladay until 2002 when her family moved to Highland. Lindsay attended elementary schools including Crestview, Legacy and Freedom. She attended Mountain Ridge Jr. High and was currently a junior at American Fork High School. Lindsay was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a firm knowledge that she is a daughter of God. Her mortal life was a testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ and she confidently shared her testimony with everyone. She was an excellent student and challenged herself with honors classes. She especially loved seminary, choir, and child development. She often developed close friendships with her teachers and she in turn, wanted to teach children. Lindsay always loved performing and was a confident speaker. She was the organizer of many shows, play school, tea parties and dress ups. A hug and a kiss were always available from Lindsay and her relationships knew no bounds. Lindsay had a special love for children and they were drawn to her. She had a way of seeking out the lonely and down trodden and buoying them up. Lindsay had a sweet tooth and could always be found with candy and had plenty to share. She was a talented pianist and loved music. She loved spending time with family at Lake Powell, the Elba Ranch, Park City and Pinto. She loved working at Liberty Land (the rides, the kids and co-workers). Her warm infectious smile, bright eyes and kind heart have captured and influenced so many. She loved friends and they loved her. It was easy to love Lindsay. Lindsay is survived by her parents Mike and Tammy Barker Sandstrom, her sister, Kaylee, her brothers Connor and Parker, her grandparents John and Judy Sandstrom and Ruel and Kay Barker, many Aunts, Uncles, and cousins that she loved dearly. Lindsay was blessed to belong to an incredibly committed, supportive and loving extended family. Lindsay will be sorely missed. She is separated from us all for a while and we know she is doing the work of our Heavenly Father. We know there is a plan that allows families to be together forever. Our family will hold on to this belief until we are together again. Lindsay Sandstrom memorial fund has been set up at Wells Fargo. Gifted funds can be designated for the family or, in lieu of flowers, the family requests a contribution to benefit the AFHS preschool, seminary, and choir programs in Lindsay's name

Our newest family member

So last friday Sam and I were just out doing some errands and we had some time to spare. So I said, lets go to the humane society and see if there is a dog that speaks to me. (I was thinking I wanted a dog, a small dog mind you!!) So we walk in, and I am just wandering around, and Sam got a phone call, and headed out. I was still walking around. And then I saw it.... a German Short Hair. Which my husbands favorite dog. I came out and was like Sam they have a German Short hair. He IMMEDIATELY wanted to see it! So I say, hey, I think they let you take them outside. So we went and asked. And we got to take him out. And he was such a good dog! He is 2 years old. And we decided to put him on hold and Sam, Toby, Sarah, and I went to go buy some birds to see if the dog would point. (its a hunting thing) so we came back the next morning, and brought the birds. And sure enough, he pointed right away! It was great. And the good thing was, he was only 40.00 dollars with tax and everything! It was great, and one of my BFF's Emily, had a dog kennel which she isnt using cuz her doggie is trained. So we borrowed that. And right after we got him, we had to put him in there, cuz we had to go to the U game! WE LOVE TO SUPPORT OUR UTES! When we came back, my parents had him out, and they really like him too. And the is AWESOME with my niece and nephew, he never barks or jumps on them. He'll lay down and let them pet him. He lets my nephew lead him around by his ear. We picked out a name... its Toa. (toe-uh) it means Warrior in Samoan. He is already responding, and doing great. Here is a pic

He's not really a puppy anymore. He is about up to my knee. If you want to meet him, come on over!!

Tonga's house

Every once in a while, we get an urge to get outta town! So we headed down to spanish fork! That is the extent of our Vacay's!! But we go down and have a fun time with Sila and Melissa and their two beautiful daughters, Makensi and Mylee. But this past saturday Mylee had fallen and broken her arm. So we went to see how she was doing and waited to see her get her pink cast. These are some pictures of us just messin around.

Sila (mylee took this pic)

Yes that is my adorable husband Sam!!

Mylee with her broken arm.

A close up Mylee!!

OH and we saw this on the way back, and thought it was so funny, I was hanging out the window trying to take the picture. So it is sort of fuzzy. But if you can't tell, it is a halloween joke. They have a fake arm shut in their trunk. Hilarious!

Thanks for the fun weekend Tonga's! Oh and they acutally got us hooked on a money saving idea. There is this website called Pinchingyourpennies.com. and it will show you what store's in your area are having sales (like grocery stores) and you print out coupon's and you go buy. It sounds sorta ghetto to go buy with coupons, but they have over 1,000 dollars of stuff, for only 300 dollars out of pocket. buy cutting coupon's and going to this webiste. It is kinda tricky, and maybe we should have a class if your interested, but it is such a good idea, sam and I signed up and can't wait to start clipping coupons. It is like buying bulk at Albertons's for cheaper then buying bulk at costco! It is such a neat idea, if you want more info, just give me a comment, and I can talk about it further.
But thanks for the games all night long, and for us crashing in the girls room! We love coming to your house and hanging out!

Gardner Village...The Witches!

Every year I have a Halloween party with my family, they have to dress up and we have lots of fun. I love the Trick-Or-Treaters and what they are all dressed up as. The old scary movies are so fun to watch on TV, I just love everything about this month. Ususally we go down and see the witches at Gardner Village, and go on a carriage ride with a witch. Football game 2!

I have never been to so many games in a row! I just went to my second game. Our friend Toby didn't get to play, because he was there hurt, but he gave us family tickets. It was so much fun. We were about 50th yard line, but like the 50th row up! It was far up, but we could see everything. It was awesome weather, and only started to sprinkle for 5 min at the end. but no body cared becuase hello did you see the score!!! it was awesome! This is a pic of everyone flooding the field! It was such a crazy game, and so much fun.

And this is us so happy at the end. about 5 min before the game ended, we really thought that the game was over with a loss for us, then they just busted it out in the last two mins! it was so crazy and so much fun! I loved it.
